Beautiful Authentic German Christmas Soldier Nutcrackers!
The Crushed Nuts Tradition There was once a German tradition of leaving crushed nuts in a child's Christmas stocking as a special treat. The popularity of this tradition is directly correlated to the number of households that have and use functional nutcrackers. This tradition started to disappear in the 1960's when shelled nuts gained popularity, decorative nutcrackers largely gained popularity, and the number of consumers with functional nutcrackers diminished. Also in the 1960's, Germany faced higher inflation rates which would have decreased the amount of disposable income families had to spend on simple traditions such as this.
