This Nutcracker stands about 37 cm tall (14 1/2 inches) and was handcrafted in the village of Seiffen Germany where the wooden nutcracker was first created. This Nutcracker was made by the Fuchtner family and it was Wilhelm Friedrich Fuchtner that is credited with first creating the wooden nutcracker back in 1870. As far back as 1786 Gotthelf Friedrich Fuchtner was selling wooden figurines at the Dresdener Striezel Market to supplement his family’s carpenter business. Royal Turkish Battalion German Nutcracker is signed by Volker Fuchtner the head of the family Nutcracker business (and Volker Fuchtner is the 6th generation of Fuchtner’s running this Nutcracker family business).
