This Nutcracker was made by the Fuchtner family, and it was Wilhelm Friedrich Fuchtner that is credited with first creating the wooden nutcracker, back in 1870. As far back as 1786, Gotthelf Friedrich Fuchtner was selling wooden figurines at the Dresdener Striezel Market to supplement his family's carpenter business. Volker Fuchtner is the 6th generation of Fuchtner's running this Nutcracker family business.
