Clad in riding boots and his tyrolean hat, this Natural Forester German Nutcracker is ready to guard the part of the forest he is responsible for. It is so fitting that a forester be natural, and this nutcracker is a fine blend of painting and natural woods. He stands about 37 cm tall ( 14 1/2 inches) and was handcrafted in the woodshops of the Erzgebirge region of Germany, in Seiffen where the wooden nutcracker was first created. This Nutcracker was made by the Fuchtner family, and it was Wilhelm Friedrich Fuchtner that is credited with first creating the wooden nutcracker, back in 1870. As far back as 1786, Gotthelf Friedrich Fuchtner was selling wooden figurines at the Dresdener Striezel Market to supplement his family's carpenter business. Natural Forester German Nutcracker is signed by Volker Fuchtner, the head of the family Nutcracker business (and Volker Fuchtner is the 6th generation of Fuchtner's running this Nutcracker family business). A true collectible that has a history and a beauty that will last for generations to come... and he really can crack nuts!
