With his curly moustache and brilliant red tunic trimmed with gold, this fireman Nutcracker is ready to save the day.  He stands 38 cm tall (about 15 inches) and is ready for action with his hatchet at his side.  This Dandy Red Fireman German Nutcracker was made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany, in the village of Seiffen where the wooden nutcracker was first created.  This Nutcracker was made by the Fuchtner family, and it was Wilhelm Friedrich Fuchtner that is credited with first creating the wooden nutcracker, back in 1870.  As far back as 1786, Gotthelf Friedrich Fuchtner was selling wooden figurines at the Dresdener Striezel Market to supplement his family's carpenter business.  Dandy Red Fireman Nutcracker is signed by Volker Fuchtner, the head of the family Nutcracker business (and Volker Fuchtner is the 6th generation of Fuchtner's running this Nutcracker family business).  A true collectible that has a history and a beauty that will last for generations to come... and he really can crack nuts!
