Cuckoo Clocks

These hand-carved Cuckoo Clocks are made in the heart of the Black Forest in Germany, where the Cuckoo Clock was first created back around 1730.  Farmers would use the long winter months when they were snowed in, to carve and create these delightful clocks, and then in the warm months, Clock Peddlers would carry thGerman Cuckoo Clocksem on their backs into the valleys and villages throughout all Germany.  Anton Schneider began producing cuckoo clocks in 1848 in his farmhouse in Schonach, Germany (just outside of Triberg in the Black Forest), and the Schneider family business is now in the 6th generation, producing heirloom quality Cuckoo clocks that you will treasure for generations to come. Using native Linden wood, craftsmen hand carve the different decorative birds, leaves and scenes of Bavaria and the forest life surrounding it.  You will find both traditional Cuckoo Clocks, with their ivy leaves and bird, Hunter's Cuckoo Clocks with a Stag  head at the apex, and many Chalet style Cuckoo Clocks, with Bavarian life displayed
